text 28 Jan Officially Colorado

I took off the blue Empire State plates of New York today and put on the green and white Rocky Mountain plates of Colorado.  I’m also carrying a paper license and they punched a hole in my NY state ID!  I guess it’s official.

On my way back from Hot Sulphur Springs I picked up a hitchhiker named Joey. This is normal thing here in the valley.  People hitch all over the place.  That’s my second passenger so far. Turns out he was in court where I was getting my license (same building) and needed a lift back to Fraser.  Turns out he works as the lead tune man at the local Ski Broker—not a bad contact to have!  We (YL) use ski broker for all our group rentals as well, so he knew camp and the Young Life groups.

We had our first drop-in guest tonight as well.  Ian, a co-worker and friend from camp, was headed home when the streets became all but unnavigable.  It’s called White-out.  It’s snowing and the wind is whipping, and you can’t even see the road. He decided to get off the main road and drop by to wait out the wind.  After an episode of the Office and a few minutes of Risky Business, he headed home in the calm of falling, rather than sideways-blowing snow.
